I honestly find these text lessons hard to follow, though buried in there is lots of good material. Possibly the authors explanation style just doesn't suit me well.

The author is available at various forums to answer questions etc, which helps a lot. I find the posts at Harmony Central much more useful than the lessons on the site.

As someone who has been playing guitar for quite a few years, but never attepted to learn music theory as I should have, I found this site helpful. Very simple set up without many frills or distractions. Although I haven't been very far into it yet as I wanted to start at the beginning without jumping around, I like the way the author tries to break it down. I would recommend it to someone who is somewhat familiar with music and their respective instrument as the lessons seem like they would be understandable for beginners, but probably not for first timers. Good site, lessons minus distractions.

I gave it a four out of five. It is very informative and he has a smooth way of presenting things so that you aren't too confused. There were a few things I had to reread, but that was mainly because I wanted to reenforce certain parts. I am not completely through his lessons as of yet because I do not want to move on to the next step until I have mastered the one I am on. I did, however, skim ahead quite often to get a "heads up" on what is next.
Another thing I liked about his site was that most times when I had a question it seemed like this was anticipated already by the author and it was answered within the lesson.
Mike Dodge(Gennation) really knows his stuff!
